How do I keep my vintage furniture looking great?
We have obviously put a lot of time and attention into the vintage item you bought from us, or plan to buy. But how do you make sure your furniture stays that beautiful?
Some tips:
Watch out for moisture! Moisture and wood remains a nasty combination. Watch out with plants that let water drip off the leaves. Flower pots can also leave unsightly circles. A flower pot on legs, or at least with space underneath to ventilate often works fine. Still damp spots? Sometimes it will help to rub them out with the heat of a hairdryer and an absorbent cloth.
Small scratches are inevitable. For this, use a good furniture oil once in a while and they will disappear like snow in the sun! We are so enthusiastic about the furniture oil that we use that we now also sell them in the webshop!
Have you bought a vintage sideboard? We always recommend lifting it rather than sliding it! The legs are often the most vulnerable part of the cabinet, it is good to be extra vigilant about this.
Vintage furniture already has a whole life behind it, often lasting for over 60 years. If you treat this furniture with care, it can last another 60 years. Super durable!
